You’re overwhelmed. You’re stressed at work or school and it’s affecting your performance. You’re having difficulty sleeping, focusing. or being present because you are lost in your anxious thoughts. You have panic attacks. You have intrusive thoughts that won’t go away. Your anxiety is starting to cause problems in your relationships. You believe you have, or you have been formally diagnosed with an anxiety disorder like OCD, panic disorder, or Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
If any of this sounds familiar, you are certainly not alone, and we can help!. Our clinicians have training in multiple research-based “best practice” treatment techniques which help children, teens, and adults overcome their anxiety.
Trauma
Car accident. Domestic violence. Traumatic medical procedure. You/your child have experienced abuse. You or your child have been through something horrific and you have difficulty functioning because you/they can’t stop thinking about the bad thing that happened. You think you/your child may have, or you/your child has been formally diagnosed with PTSD…
If any of this sounds like you or your child, we have clinicians who have a specialized set of skills to help you or your child find relief faster than you might imagine is possible. Techniques that we use are the gold standard, research-based, “best practice” treatment techniques (i.e., EMDR & TF-CBT) to help people like you move past their past and thrive in the face of adversity.
Infertility
An emotional roller coaster that no one wants to ride. Anxiety, grief, hope, disappointment, depression… No one anticipates how difficult and emotionally complex the infertility journey can be. We have clinicians on our team who have specialized experience and training working with individuals and couples who are experiencing infertility, or fertility treatment. Let our specialists support you through your journey, wherever it leads.
Life Transitions
New job. New school. Divorce. Moving. Adjusting to being away at college. Empty nest. Aging parents. New baby… The list could go on forever. Change is hard. As human beings we are wired to resist change and struggle with it—even sometimes when the change is positive! Children and adolescents are notorious for having difficulty adjusting to changes and “acting out” their reactions. We are here to help you and/or your child adjust to whatever change is happening in your life and learn healthier, more effective ways to cope so you or your child can feel better sooner.
Parenting is hard, especially in this day and age. We are barraged with tons of conflicting information and parents’ stress levels are higher than ever. You might find yourself at the end of your rope, feeling like you have “tried everything” and you are still struggling to manage your child’s behavior. Maybe your child has ADHD or other special needs and you feel like everything you thought you knew about parenting doesn’t work or apply to your child. Maybe you did not have positive parenting role models yourself… Our clinicians are here to help you fine tune your parenting skills, identify your parenting style, regain your patience/sanity, and assist you to improve your relationship with your children.

How does therapy work?
Regardless of which of the above categories your needs fall into, the therapeutic process is generally the same.
Initial consultation: a phone call after you are matched with one of our clinicians to see if we feel we are able to meet your needs.
Assessment Phase: Open conversations between you and your clinician about what has lead to you seeking help. Your clinician will ask lots of questions to get the information they need, share whether you meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis* (if applicable), and how they think they can help. This is also when you/your child & your clinician start to build our therapeutic relationship.
Goals: You and your clinician will work together to create a treatment plan made up of short and/or long term goals that are realistic & achievable designed to provide you/your child with relief from distress as quickly as possible.
Putting the plan into action: Your clinician will teach you/your child skills or impart information grounded in research that is necessary for you/your child to begin to work toward your goals. You will be working hard in between sessions practicing the skills and techniques have been discussed. At the same time your clinician will be providing you/your child with support, encouragement, and assisting you to process any emotional reactions you are experiencing throughout the process.
*it is not necessary to have a formal mental health diagnosis to participate in or benefit from psychotherapy!
