Payment Options
We are excited to announce we are exclusively in network with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. If you would like to use your BCBS plan, we will verify your insurance and share with you what the estimated costs of sessions will be. You will be required to keep a card on file which will be charged for the portion you owe after sessions take place.
Though we are not in network with any other insurances, if you have out of network benefits through another health insurance company, we submit all of the paperwork for you as a courtesy to make the billing process easy. If you have out of network benefits, usually the balance after your insurance pays is similar to a copay at a doctor’s office! Read on for more detail on how we submit out of network insurance info for you:
This is how it works:
Provide your insurance information to us.
We verify your out of network benefits coverage and deductible (if there is one) from your insurance company so you are aware of what out of pocket cost you can expect.
Your clinician submits your sessions to our biller (it is important that you communicate with your clinician about how often you would like to be charged for sessions)
The card you place on file (required) will be charged the full session fee ($175) for each session.
Our practice will submit documentation to your insurance company for you to be reimbursed whatever percentage your insurance has agreed to cover, and you can then deposit the insurance reimbursement checks upon receiving them.
**we accept all major credit & debit cards, including HSA/FSA cards.
Using Insurance
Cash Pay
If you do not have, or do not wish to use insurance benefits, you are welcome to pay out of pocket for services. We accept all major credit & debit cards, including HSA/FSA cards.
Financial Assistance
If you are in financial need, please let us know and we can discuss adjusting the amount for which you are responsible. We utilize an income-based sliding scale chart for clients who request assistance. We would be happy to send you the chart to see if you qualify. Please be prepared to show proof of total household income should you choose to apply.
Chrissy and her team also work to provide psychotherapy, parent coaching, and other intensive services to children & youth age 3-21 and their families through NJ’s Children’s System of Care (a state funded program which is free of charge regardless of a family’s income).
To become involved with our IIC or BA services, families should not contact us directly. Please call Perform Care (the NJ Children’s System of Care Service Administrator): 877-652-7624 and request our practice to work with you and your child.
Practice Logistics
We are a paperless practice! All billing and other documentation (consents, etc.) is administered in a HIPAA compliant electronic practice management/client portal software program called Simple Practice. All clients are required to place a credit or debit card on file for all transactions to take place electronically. Charges will appear on your statement as "stripe," as this is the credit card vendor Simple Practice uses for electronic payments. Consent forms, etc. will be sent to you via the client portal in Simple Practice.
Billing & other Paperwork
Telehealth/Virtual Therapy
Virtual therapy sessions take place through a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform which is part of our electronic practice management software, Simple Practice. It is very intuitive and easy to use. No login name or signup is required. A link to your online session will be sent to your email just prior to the start of our scheduled session time. Each session lasts 53-60 mins.
We ask that clients make sure they have a reliable internet connection prior to starting a therapy session to avoid becoming disconnected or “freezing” during sessions. If for whatever reason the Simple Practice telehealth platform is down, we have the ability to utilize another platform with your permission.
Confidentiality is a very serious matter and virtual sessions must be treated like an in-office session as much as possible (i.e., no other apps open at the same time or other multi-tasking). We take confidentiality very seriously and take care to ensure that confidentiality is maintained on the clinician’s end. We ask clients to take every measure possible to ensure confidentiality on their end of their call as well (i.e., making sure no one is able to hear what they or I am saying—headphones can be a helpful tool).
In-Person Therapy
In-person therapy sessions for children, teens and adults take place at our office location in Sparta, NJ. Our practice location uniquely offers the opportunity for youth to have HIPAA compliant sessions outdoors, including the use of a playground and sandbox. Research demonstrates working with children/youth in a more relaxed, developmentally natural, less threatening setting (rather than in a conventional professional office) can ease and speed along the therapeutic process.
